Calls were made for children to be guided with the use of Social Media
Social media has over the years taken over the internet space with millions of people around the world connecting and sharing information in the “open” or via direct messaging popularly known as DM.

However, calls have been intensified for parents to take keen interest in what their children do on social media. He said children on social media stand the risk of being exposed to online predators who sometimes pose as peers, to gain the trust of children and manipulate them into sharing personal information, engaging in inappropriate conversations or even meeting them offline, putting the safety of these children at risk.

The colourful event saw the graduation of 96 students who were moving to different stages of their academic lives including 5 first cohorts of BECE graduates after the school was established more than 10 years ago. There were 8-Creche pupils, 21 Nursery 2 pupils, 21-KG 2 pupils, 28-Year 3 pupils and 13-year 6 pupils who also graduated on the day.

Mr. Ohene Adu also admonished parents to support their children when they come home stressing that the academic development of the child is a responsibility of both teachers and parents. “Whiles teachers continue to perform their duties in school, it behoves on parents to complement that effort by continuing from where they left off in their homes. They should help them not only with their homework but also teach them at home too,” he added.

The graduation ceremony saw pupils displaying their talents in poetry recitals, music and dance, drama and unveiling Ghana’s rich cultural heritage. High-profile guests including a representative from the Municipal education directorate, a Board Member of LEAP school, the Assembly member of the Kunka- electoral area and parents.

The theme ‘Achieving Excellence Through Holistic Education’ addresses the importance of comprehensive learning experiences that cater for students’ overall growth encompassing not just academic achievement but also social skills, personal development and emotional intelligence. Mr. Aboagye Ohene Adu commended the efforts of the graduating students, emphasizing their dedication to learning and growth. He also lauded the teachers who have worked tirelessly to guide the students to achieve their academic goals. 

In a speech read on his behalf, the Obuasi Municipal Director of Education, George Alfred Koomson, congratulated the graduates, teachers and parents for their hard work. He also advised parents to guide their wards, especially the BECE graduating students as they step out of the school to start a new life. Mr. Koomson also cautioned the graduates to watch their steps as they step into a new level of education to become good future leaders. 

In a move to recognize and reward excellence, the school honored its top-performing teachers and students.There were congratulatory messages from the school’s management and other dignitaries.
